Help Us Re-Vision ADP

Technology fosters inclusion, and it reduces feelings of isolation and depression for people who are blind, partially sighted or Deafblind – but only when it's accessible, available and affordable

In just a few minutes, you can support the Re-Vision ADP campaign.

Write to your local candidate!

Below is a template letter. We encourage you to personalize the letter. You can even delete it and write your own. Tip: Stating your position clearly with a respectful tone will get the best results.

Some details you might want to include: the value you place on assistive technology, your background (if you, or someone you know, requires assistive technology) and where you are writing from.

Please enter your details in the form below. This information will be held in accordance with CNIB’s privacy policy and used to format your letter of support. Fields marked with an ‘*’ are mandatory.

Call your local candidate!

Please note: If you're not able to reach a candidate, please leave a message with their campaign staff. Speaking to campaign staff can be as effective as reaching the candidate. If you don't hear from the campaign office within a week, follow up.

Good morning/afternoon Mr. /Ms. XXX:

My name is X and I am a constituent in your riding. I am also a [client, volunteer, supporter, staff etc.] of CNIB, the primary source of support for people is living with sight loss.

I am calling you to talk about the Government of Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (or ADP for short). ADP helps people with disabilities access assistive technology.

While we know people who are blind, partially sighted or Deafblind have benefitted from ADP, we also know there are significant areas that require improvement. For example, the funded categories (e.g. visual aids) have not been significantly updated for nearly 20 years, and the paper-based administrative process is burdensome and inaccessible, resulting in unnecessary delays.

[If the candidate, campaign staff, volunteers, etc. are receptive, highlight how ADP has helped you.]

Will you and your Party publicly recognize the immediate need to modernize ADP and commit to establishing a strategy with CNIB and campaign supporters within the first 100 days of government?

Thank you!

If the candidate asks you a question that you don’t have an answer to, please provide them with CNIB’s contact information.
